- highest quality compression available 0 people found this helpfulI bought this card mainly because I was looking for higher quality compression than H.264 which 99% of the market uses. The Geovision software gives you the ability to select MPEG4 where you can tailor the compression algorithm more to your needs (a lot more than the 5 choices you get with H.264). This comes at a cost of disk space ofcourse but at least you have the option. Even the H.264 setting seems to provide better video quality than budget DVR's I have used also with H.264. One of the things I don't care for so much is the geovision software breaks up the recording into maximum 5 minute video files. I can see how this might be practical for tons and tons of video data but I still don't care for it all that much. Also the bracket on the card was short for my computer case which is odd... all my other non-geovision cards fit perfectly in my case.
