22 Jan Best way to get Internet connectivity wirelessly to your Security Recorder
Being in the Security business for over 30 years , I have been asked tons of interesting questions, and have always found interseting solutions for them.
Todays topic is a question I have been asked thousands of times..which Is – I want to get a security system but the secured area where I want to place the Recorder does not have any Internet Connectivity nearby and there is no way to run a cable to that location..what can I do?
The answer is you need to create a Network bridge from that area where the recorder will be to the area where the internet connectivity will be (most likely where your cable modem is located).
I have found that Speco has an excellent solution for this issue.
Speco AP348 300Mbps Outdoor Point-to-Point Video Network Bridge with DIP Function https://www.surveillance-video.com/transmission-ap348.html
is designed to act as Bridge , where one side would be installed by the recorder , and the other side would be installed by the area where the internet connectivity will be. When you make this purchase , you will need to buy 2 as they are sold seperately, not as set.One side acts like a transmitter and the other acts as a receiver.
The install is done with dip switches that are on the units , where one side is set for “up” for upload”, and the other side is set for “down” for download, so that is how the units will wirelessly connect to each other and create the network bridge.
Recently the Metropolitan Transit Authority http://www.mta.info/nyct approached us with an application where they had to install a recorder by one of the train stations, but their internet connectivity was at a different area 100ft away. They bought a set from us and advised us that it worked perfectly for their application , and that they had tried looking for a unit like this but came up with no answer..and were so happy with this simple and effective solution.
