In the enterprise sector, Western Digital also has the RE4 series in addition to the VelociRaptor series, which we will have a closer look at. To meet the demands of server environments, WD has implemented some special functions in the RE-4, such as improved shock sensors, TLER for RAID setups, StableTrac and advanced vibration correction mechanisms. Since the RE-4 is a bit dated, the SATA interface is designed for only 3 Gb/s, which has no significant effect on the performance of the drive. The rotation speed amounts to 7200 revolutions per minute, and buffer memory to 64 MB. The sector size amounts to at 512 bytes.
