The SNC-DF85N from Sony is a Ruggedized Minidome IP Camera that is designed for a variety of surveillance and monitoring applications. The SNC-DF85N is housed in a heavy-duty aluminum die-cast enclosure with an impact-resistant polycarbonate dome, the SNC-DF85N offers good protection against vandalism. Furthermore, its weather-resistant design guards against damage from dust and water ingress when used in outdoor applications.The SNC-DF85N’s day/night function provides clear monitoring images in low light conditions. The SNC-DF85N incorporates advanced compression technologies to transmit image data in three different formats, JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264, so that users can choose the best compression format depending on their applications. The SNC-DF85N comes with a 3.6x zoom, vari-focal lens that covers up to 100.8°, the SNC-DF85N can be used to monitor tight areas requiring a large viewing angle. In addition, the PoE (power over Ethernet) capability makes installation quick, as well as possible savings in infrastructure cost. I have not hooked it up yet as this is new construction and you cannot have electronics in a building before the drywall goes up, but it was easy to select and arrived on time and when we asked for help to see if we could use RG6, they were helpful. What is not to like about S-V.com :)
